Bec Lalor

Bec has been a member of Maroondah/Croydon Toy Library since 2006 and has helped run the toy library ever since! She has three school aged kids, is a Mandarin speaker, and LOVES board games for older kids and adults such as 7 Wonders, Jaipur and Splendor or any beautiful wooden toy produced by Artiwood or VIGA.

Maroondah Toy Library (MTL) is a not-for-profit, community run toy library operating in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne since 1979. We currently loan toys to over 600 families in the Maroondah area.
MTL has a wide range of over 4500 quality toys, games, activities and equipment available to borrow for a minimal annual fee – we operate like a book library, only lending toys and games.

The purposes of our association are:

(a) To conduct a toy library in the City of Maroondah and surrounding areas.

(b) To encourage families to play together by raising awareness of the importance and value of play.

(c) To make available for loan a wide range of quality toys and play equipment to stimulate the cognitive and motor development of all children including those with additional needs.

(d) To make toys and equipment accessible to families who may be isolated, vulnerable or unable to purchase their own.

(e) To provide information, resources and expertise to facilitate choosing developmentally appropriate play materials.

(f) To connect members with other members, families and community services.

We are run by a volunteer committee of management elected by our members each year, and two part time staff.
